About Mi Oh My Hydroponic Farms

Mi Oh My Hydroponic Farms is a Bronx-based worker-owned urban farm and educational organization. Our mission is to improve food access for food insecure households and communities, while providing opportunities for BIPOC communities to build generational wealth using Cooperative Economics and Just Transition principles. Role Summary

The Program Coordinator serves as the operational backbone of Mi Oh My's "Meet the Farmer" initiative - a cornerstone community engagement program designed to connect Bronx and NYC residents directly with nutrient-dense foods and hands-on education in hydroponics, microgreens, and mushroom cultivation. This role drives the program's reach and impact by organizing events, building community partnerships, and ensuring smooth, mission-aligned operations across all partnerships.

About the Role

We seek a passionate, community-centered Program Coordinator to expand the reach of MOM's "Meet the Farmer" program across the Bronx and greater NYC. This role combines event coordination, community outreach, and operational support to connect residents with fresh food access and urban agriculture education. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, genuine enthusiasm for food justice, and the ability to engage diverse communities with warmth and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Event Coordination

  • Coordinate and manage "Meet the Farmer" events, both in-person and hybrid, across various community partner locations.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, restaurants, cafes, and other community partners to spread the word and collaborative on initiative  

  • Facilitate community sign-ups for farm shares and workshops using Hubspot CRM as the primary digital tool, alongside printed forms to manage and track participant data.

  • Oversee logistics including event scheduling, setup, and breakdown, and ensure all materials are prepared and available.

  • Engage with community members during events, providing education on hydroponics, microgreens, and mushrooms, and enroll participants into ongoing programs hosted by the farm.

  • Collaborate with the Farm team to ensure produce needed for events is crop-planned in advance.

  • Track and report on event outcomes including attendance, sign-ups, and community feedback.

  • Assist in developing outreach materials and strategies to promote events and increase community engagement.

Team & Organizational Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Mi Oh My Farms team members to ensure alignment with cooperative goals and community needs.

  • Communicate with owners and provide updates at relevant meetings.

  • Assist with new hire verifications.

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Organize pertinent files and operational handbooks.

  • Assist in maintaining facility compliance with required signage.

  • Assist in drafting and maintaining familiarity with emergency evacuation and preparedness plans associated with fire, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.

  • Report and assist in troubleshooting operational hazards that compromise the safety of employees and visitors.

  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and restock as needed.

  • Manage petty cash operations and maintain accurate records of company card usage with corresponding receipts.

  • Complete the NYC Food Protection course and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation requirements across the team.

Required Qualifications

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in event coordination, community outreach, or a related field

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities

  • Proficiency in using digital tools for event management and data tracking

  • Basic understanding of hydroponics, microgreens, or mushrooms - or a strong willingness to learn

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with food justice, food insecurity issues, or related community-based initiatives

  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
